Gardening

From time to time we go to the garden.

Our grandma has a summer house with some land :) where she grows different vegetables & berries. Yeva likes to go there. Everything is so interesting & new there. We take a train to get there. It takes 35 minutes to walk to the train station from our house & then 45 minutes on the train in order to get there. Such a trip for Yeva. She get so much new stuff around her that sometimes she just fell asleep & it looks like her little computer just turned off from working to much ;) it is fun to go ther ein the summer becouse there is a fresh yummy stuff waiting for you to be eaten.
i spent there every summer of my childhood. there is a river & a lake not far away from there. we used to go fishing there but now there is no fish left. i don't know it is due to everyone fishing like crazy or bad polution. but no fish. we even had craw-fish, but not anymore. Those were way tasty. Grandma taught us the principle of hard work there. i remember she'd give us some tast & as a prise we'd go on the river. by they way i learn how to swim when i was 19.
The only problem we have is that my grandma loves her garden too much. by that i mean she expects everyone to work there every free minute of their llive & gets offended if they don't. & she likes to sell things. this way we get offended because it seems unfair that she sells stuff to someone after we had been working there. & we don't have too much because there are 3 families eating from this garden. She only grows extra tomatoes to sell them. the rest she takes away from the family. Noone understand why she does it. not a long time ago she sold potatoes my family bought in the autimn. & now my family has to buy them again. Crazy, huh? i think it is enough of complains! I have to say thank you to grandma for teaching me to work hard. & i have to admit that she's the one who taught me about God on the first place. Thank you grandma
As well let me add that Grandma is really good at growing stuff. there is not a single empty spot in the garden.
I have to say a word about banya - russian sauna. i love it. we took some pictures inside for you. i love being there & it helpes to clean our bodies. unfortunately we don't go to the garden very often, but every time we go we try to go to banya as well.
Here is a picture of the view out of grandma's window where you can see the train. Kevin thought that Radek whould really like that place becouse of that. as well there are some pics inside of grandma's house. Her house is kind of greyish.
Grandma Raisa (short form Raya) has a dog. By the way there is a story behind that dog. She used to have the other Dog for a couple of years. his name was Sharik. we all loved him. he was a very nice dog. Grandma's nabourse had 2 dogs. those dogs were evil. Then one day grandma told us that Sharic is too nice & kind. She decided to get one of her nabourse dogs becouse it too hard for them to feed two dogs. So she asked my brother to take Sharik away & let him go & took the other dog. Sharic came back in a week, so she had two dogs for a while. then she sent Sharic with my brother again cuz it is hard to feed two dogs. This other dog whould be placed on the way to the toilet(outside of the house). So for a long time before the dog got used to us & accepted us as a family we had some trouble with going to the toilet & feel safe in the garden. This dog was barking as crazy on us. Now we all got friends with this dog. Kevin helped me with it a lot. He seems knowing dogs more than i do. this dog's name is dozor.
My grandma used to be the head of our family. (so she still has a great influence on the family) For some reason on my side of the family women take the leading role in the family. I learned that it's a wrong pattern only in the church & i have to tell you it is really hard to live the other way. But i really wanted to have right relationship with Kevin. Though sometimes i try to rule & control & lead as women in my family do.

Hey there! I commented on facebook, but I am far to greedy to post only once. I love all the greenery. We are having continous heat advisories here, and the atmosphere is on fire. Ritchie, in spite of this, has managed to grow grass in the back yard. He is AMAZING! And I like the sound of your grandma. She seems spunky. No nice dogs allowed!!!!! I think she should share more veggies though. Unless the needs the money from selling them to survive. In which case, all the work you do in the garden is really to help support your beloved grandmother, in leiu of giving her money. And that is nice, since she gave so much to you when you were growing up.

What a big beautiful garden! I'm very impressed. A garden is a lot of work.

You really made a wonderful blog entry complete with both photos to illustrate. It's exciting to me to have Kevin learn gardening skills, although I am sure growing in Arizona is a different thing from where all of you are. Today I was imagining Kevin coming here to teach all of us a thing or two about gardening. Who knows?
