So Yeva's grandma Tantsura has had a kitten named Vasya for a while now. Of course we were interested to see how Yeva would react when she first got him, and it turned out about how you'd expect--plenty of interest along with tail grabbing, scratching, etc. There didn't seem to be much to worry about though, because it didn't take long for Vasya to realize that Yeva catching him wasn't fun, and he was quick enough to elude her. It was just kind of an amusing game, Yeva chasing Vasya all the time. Through the weeks, it seems they've managed to find some mutual understanding, because they can play nice now. Vasya seems to be more gentle with her than with anyone else, and he loves her company. Whenever she goes to a different room, he follows her, and vice versa. When Vasya started crying for food in the kitchen, Yeva started to look very concerned, called out to him "Va!" and then ran over to help him out. Then a similar thing happened when Yeva was crying, cranky before going to bed, only he didn't call her by name. They're pretty much best friends now. It's really cute to watch them play, Yeva employing a variety of toys and tricks like stomping on his tale, or using an empty bottle to smash around and intimidate him, but he doesn't seem to get bent out of shape over it.
I'm always wondering what they say to each other. "Do they try to make you go potty in a box too?" "Kind of, they call it a chair, but at least it doesn't have dirt in it like yours. That's gotta be embarrassing." "Not really, it's more fun that way." "hmmm, I'll have to try it out some time."
